Volunteer Applications are closed

All Volunteers will receive the following:

  • Free admission to VikingsCon
  • Free camping at VikingsCon
  • 1 (one) free meal ticket for each day of volunteering 
  • Volunteer Letter of Completion

Open Volunteer Positions and Responsibilities

 REGISTRATION SPECIALIST/ASSISTANT:

  • Specialist responsibilities - Processes pre-registered tickets. Processes at-door ticket sales. Will receive training on the VikingsCon registration system. Must be a quick study of the registration system/equipment. Knowledgeable of all VikingsCon ticket prices/packages and general times of all things taking place. Typically stationed at the Ticket Booth. Handles money and credit card payments.


  • Assistant Responsibilities -  Assists Registration Specialists with registration bags and items. Knowledgeable of all VikingsCon ticket prices/packages and general times of all things taking place. Typically stationed at the Ticket Booth.


GUEST LIAISON/ASSISTANT:

  • Liaison responsibilities - Must be extremely courteous and proactive with anticipating celebrity's needs. Knowledgeable of all celebrity photo and autograph prices. Must follow a tally sheet carefully to track how many autographs & photographs a guest has for the day. On occasion, may handle money for guest’s photographs and autographs. If selected for this position, a phone and/or in-person interview is required.


  • Assistant responsibilities - Takes excellent care of guests. Provides green room services (i.e., if they need water, coffee, food, security, etc.), and assists with taking quick photos (at guest’s discretion). In charge of telling attendees the correct line to meet the guest and manages the front of the line. Also informs attendees if the line is being cut off due to guest schedule (e.g., taking a break/panel/lunch/photo-op), as well as letting attendees know when the guest is expected back at their table. Typically takes directions from the Guest Liaison. If selected for this position, a phone and/or in-person interview is required.


PROGRAMMING ASSISTANT:

  • Ensures programming (Panels, Workshops, Demos) starts and ends on time. Assists presenters/hosts with setup and cleanup of their panel/workshop/demo. Passes around the microphone during Q&A sessions as needed. Directs attendees where to sit during panels. Monitors door entry, checks badges, and directs exit traffic. Assists with outdoor programming and activities.


PANEL MODERATOR:

  • Must have an engaging, energetic and fun personality. Must be able to lead/host Q&A panels and engage guests and attendees in conversation. Should be a quick thinker and able to defuse and/or deflect any discussion that may make the guest feel uncomfortable. If selected for this position, a phone and/or in-person interview is required.


EVENT PHOTOGRAPHER:

  • Takes photos of venue and event programming (including panels, workshops, demos, etc.). Provides final photos to Red Serpents to use for marketing purposes. Any photos used for marketing purposes will be credited to the photographer.


PHOTOGRAPHY ASSISTANT:

  • Assists  Official Photographer with line control during guest photo ops. Knowledgeable of all VikingsCon photo prices/packages and general times of photo ops.


GREETER:

  • A great sit-down position! Typically stationed at the Ticket Booth and Info Booth, Greeters will greet attendees as they enter the event space. Ensures attendees are wearing the correct badge for the correct day of the event. Helps direct attendees and answer questions. Actively pass out Venue map(s). Must be engaging and proactive. Do not wait for attendees to ask for help. The Greeter should be first to offer assistance. Answers general questions about the event. Knowledgeable of all VikingsCon ticket prices/packages and general times of all things taking place. Ensures flyers and other promotional materials remain in-stock and available at the Ticket Booth and  Info Booth.


SECURITY:

  • Monitors Registration, Panel Room, and Vendor hall areas, as well as overall grounds areas. Provide line control and badge checks. Walks the grounds to patrol overall venue areas (such as the food truck area, outdoor programming and activities, entrance and bathrooms, etc.). Typically works during and after event main hours to monitor and patrol grounds during after-hours programming, such as overnight camping. Security experience highly recommended.
